Two Best Pixel Games for Non-Gamers

I by no means would consider myself a gamer although I enjoy playing a cute video game here and there. My usual requirements are easy fights (that you don't have to repeat a million times since you died) and a quick learning curve. Pixel games have remained popular despite graphics being far beyond them. There are a few reasons for pixel games being so popular such as affordability to make and buy, and they're easy for any computer or console to run. I am always shocked at people's creativity when I see and play pixel games, they manage to make something incredibly simple and adorable.

Little Witch in the Woods (demo)

This game is beyond adorable and incredibly addicting. You play as a little apprentice witch named Ellie. Ellie is incredibly adventurous and has a bit of a habit of getting herself in trouble. Unfortunately this game is only in demo yet it still has a few hours of gameplay which only made me more excited for the full release next year. This game doesn't have any fighting but that doesn't mean dangers aren't lurking in the woods. The controls and learning curve for this game are fairly easy, especially since it's more narrative based. Along with making potions and riding on your broom you get to know and help the nearby villagers.

This game is hilarious, and saying it's goofy would be an understatement. In a land of food you play as turnip boy, a rebellious adventurer of very few words. After you commit tax evasion to repay your debts you become the mayor's personal assistant and run errands for him to get back your greenhouse. During the game you learn more about the post-apocalyptic world that you live in and bits about the humans that used to rule the world. Along the way you meet many other adorable snacks most of whom you offend. This game is fairly easy to get the hang of and has a very basic form of fighting. You will face dangers and there are a few big fights. Surprisingly this game is fairly narrative based. If you're looking for a shorter game that will make you giggle I highly recommend it.

Where to buy

I played both these games with my XBox game pass which is a subscription service but they are also available on many other platforms. You can purchase both games to play on your computer on Steam. Little Witch in the Woods is currently on sale until July 7th for $16.64 or you can get it anytime for $18.49. Turnip boy is also on sale for $8.76 until July 7th or you can get it regularly priced for $17.49. If you would like to play on Nintendo Switch only Turnip boy is available for $9.97 until the 29th or $19.94 regular.
